Perinatal Therapy in Ontario
(Pregnancy & Postpartum Support)
What do you do when pregnancy or postpartum isn’t feeling the way you expected it to?
Complicated and intense emotions, heightened anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and loneliness… if this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Many of us experience significant challenges adapting to pregnancy and parenting young children, and find ourselves feeling lost, isolated, or unsure if we’re doing it “wrong”. ADHD, Autism, or AuDHD may add additional challenges, guilt, or frustration. Add on body changes and expectations—from yourself or others—and is it any wonder that the perinatal period is one of the most common stages to seek out support through therapy?
Fear, guilt, and uncertainty can feel overwhelming but hard to talk about, and whether these feelings are a small part of your experience or have developed into suspected postpartum anxiety/postpartum depression, you deserve support and care.
How Perinatal Therapy Can Help
In perinatal therapy, we will work through the complexity of this stage, connect strengths with compassion, and build supports for perinatal or post-partum anxiety, depression or OCD symptoms while acknowledging the importance of being seen, cared for, and respected. LGBTQIA+ perinatal therapy explicitly recognizes non-gestational parents, donor conception, and what it’s like to experience pregnancy and birth as a transgender parent.
With support, you can begin to make sense of what’s happening, respond to it differently, and feel more like yourself again.
