Perinatal Mental Health

Adding a new family member is a period of considerable transition! Many of us experience complicated emotions, heightened anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and loneliness as we try to adapt. Body changes and expectations from ourselves and others may cause turmoil or confusion, and sometimes we may not recognize ourselves, particularly when gender identity is a factor or donor conception, adoption, or kinship placements have played a role in family building.

In perinatal therapy, we will work through the common humanity of this process, connect strengths and build compassion, and may target more serious concerns as needed while acknowledging the importance of being seen, cared for, and respected.

Perinatal therapy for those who have experienced loss or are managing medical diagnoses or complex outcomes can provide a space where you can safely speak of your journey and be welcomed and supported.
